Frontier Touring regretfully advises that due to the uncertainty of border restrictions around the current COVID outbreaks across Australia, Jimmy Barnes’ September Flesh And Blood Tour is cancelled and unable to be rescheduled.

Excited at the thought of touring his 18^th career #1 ARIA Album Flesh And Blood, this cancellation of nine shows heartbreakingly adds to the growing list of I Lost My Gig Australia events due to the ongoing pandemic and national restrictions.

Jimmy says, “My band, my crew and music fans around the country are all doing it really tough right now so these latest round of cancelled gigs will be yet another kick in the guts for them at a really bad time. Hopefully if we all do the right things and get vaccinated as soon as possible then we’ll be enjoying gigs together before too much longer.” 

Jimmy also noted that recently announced State Government schemes in WA, NSW and VIC would help compensate the tour promoter and tour workers for some of their losses on this tour.

“It’s a real pity that the QLD and SA governments haven’t bothered to match these other States by introducing similar schemes. I don’t know what they’re waiting for. The music community is really on its knees right now so I think QLD and SA should seriously consider stepping up like the other states have already done.” 

Ticketholders need take no action and will be contacted directly from the official original ticketing agency.  Tickets purchased by credit or debit card will be automatically refunded in full to the card originally used for purchase.  Patrons should allow approximately 20 working days for the refund to appear in their account. 

In addition to his already announced Red Hot Summer dates, Jimmy is working on extensive touring plans for 2022 when Australia should be allowing a return to live music. Stay tuned for future tour and date announcements.

“I would rather be on stage than nearly anywhere else in the world but I would never want to endanger any of our Australian music fans. So due to COVID, I have had to reschedule my shows. I didn’t want to postpone and postpone, week after week so we’ve moved the shows back by a month or so. I hope we get on top of this by then and we can all celebrate live music together again” Jimmy Barnes 

The Australian Flesh And Blood Tour will now kick off in Queensland on Thursday 2 September at Brisbane’s Convention & Exhibition Centre and close in Perth at the Riverside Theatre on Wednesday 22 September, full list of rescheduled dates below. 

Tickets for the original performances will be valid for the rescheduled dates without taking further action. Patrons unable to attend new show dates may obtain a full refund. Refund requests must be submitted prior to Friday 30 July 2021.

Frontier Touring are excited to announce Mahalia Barnes and Jade MacRae as special guests on Jimmy Barnes upcoming Flesh And Blood tour.  Mahalia Barnes will perform on all Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sydney shows and Jade MacRae on all Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne dates.

With Flesh And Blood - the tour and the new album - including contributions from the extended Barnes family, it’s fitting that acclaimed singer-songwriter Mahalia Barnes opens the show in stripped back mode at the Gold Coast, Brisbane and two Sydney shows.  
 
The powerhouse soul and blues vocalist has been in and around music her entire life, having been exposed to everything from Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Ike + Tina Turner and Ray Charles.  Mahalia + The Soul Mates have released three albums, Volume One, Ooh Yea!: The Betty Davis Songbook and 2018’s Hard Expectations. 

Most recently, Mahalia along with Kate Ceberano and Nikki Costa performed the Russell Morris classic ‘The Real Thing’ on Music From The Home Front.  Mahalia also paid tribute to Helen Reddy with a rousing performance of the iconic ‘I Am Woman’ live on Q+A (ABC).

Multi ARIA award nominee, APRA award winner and close Barnes family friend, R&B and Soul singer, Jade MacRae joins the tour as special guest in Perth, and the two Adelaide and two Melbourne shows.  With a career spanning 25 years, including much of the past four years on the road with US blues guitarist, Joe Bonamassa, MacRae released new single ‘Weather The Storm’ last month and  the acclaimed ‘Handle Me with Care’ album featuring the singles ‘I Choose Love’ and ‘Midnight Air’ in 2020. 
 
Jade’s flair for live performance, versatility and dynamic delivery have taken her to join the stage and studio with countless local greats; Jimmy Barnes, Neil Finn, Cold Chisel, Renee Geyer whilst internationally, Ray Charles, Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), George Bensen and John Legend.

Frontier Touring are excited to announce that Jimmy Barnes is set to hit the road in support of his forthcoming album Flesh And Blood. Touring theatres across Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sydney this July, the Flesh And Blood Tour will appropriately feature many members of Jimmy’s family. Over the last year hundreds of ‘at home’ performances by the Barnes clan attracted more than 100 million views on social media and helped inspire a slew of new songs as well.

“It’s great to be back playing live again”, says Jimmy. “It was good to get some downtime at home for a change but now we’re hungry to get back onstage together. If 2020 taught me anything it’s that Facebook and YouTube videos can be fun but they’re no substitute for a real gig.” 

Flesh And Blood will be released on July 2 and is the twentieth studio album by Jimmy Barnes.  He has enjoyed twelve solo chart toppers plus five with Cold Chisel taking his career tally to a record setting total of seventeen #1 albums.  

Jimmy debuted the title track from Flesh And Blood at the State Memorial for his close mate, Michael Gudinski: “Michael’s loss really hit us hard. Everything he did was about family one way or another which is probably why he liked that song (Flesh and Blood) so much. I’m dedicating this record to his memory.” 

The ten songs on Flesh And Blood feature multiple contributions from Jimmy’s extended family. His son Jackie plays drums, his daughters Mahalia, Eliza-Jane and Elly-May all contribute vocals, as does Jackie and granddaughter, Tyra Harrison.  His son-in-law, Ben Rodgers, engineered the album, played bass and collaborated with Jimmy’s nephew, renowned photographer Jesse Lizotte, on the album cover, plus he and Jane also duet together on the American classic Love Hurts.   

“I realise lots of people have struggled badly during the last year but I’ve been able to stop and count my blessings”, Jimmy explains. “Jane and I have been married for four decades but I’ve basically always been on the road so this was literally the first time we’ve ever spent so many months at home. It made me realize how lucky I am to be surrounded by our big musical family. As you can tell from all those songs we posted online we really like to sing with each other, so making an album with lots of the people I love felt like a natural way to help us pass this time together.” 

Appropriately the deluxe CD of the album will include a bonus DVD featuring ten of the most popular ‘at home performances’. Bearing the tongue in cheek title, The Jane Barnes Band’s Greatest Hits, this limited version will be an additional souvenir of a year that won’t be forgotten in a hurry.
