Why Don’t We recently unveiled their latest single, ‘Hooked’, which shot to #3 on the US iTunes’ Overall Songs charts, ahead of Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, and Ariana Grande, and #28 here in Australia, out front of Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and Conrad Sewell. Go behind the scenes of ‘Hooked’ here.
That’s just the latest win for the prolific 16-19 year olds (who can play 25 instruments between them), following a string of earlier successes.
‘[Why Don’t We’s] star should only continue to rise in 2018’ – Time Magazine
‘The next generation’s all-American boy band’ – Paper Mag
In February 2018, Why Don’t We released ‘Trust Fund Baby’ – written by none other than global superstar and label mate Ed Sheeran and produced by British hitmaker Steve Mac. It followed earlier tracks ‘Invitation’ and ‘These Girls’, the latter’s video boasting almost 49 million on the band’s phenomenally popular YouTube channel.
“Our sound is a little bit different than what you’d expect from the term ‘boy band’. [It’s] a little bit more urban-driven, R&B – but still has the pop influence.” – Corbyn Besson, Why Don’t We (via Billboard)
Following their debut EP Only The Beginning and follow-up Something Different EP, the band’s third EP in June 2017, Why Don't We Just, was a runaway success. It hit #1 on US iTunes’ Pop Albums chart, ahead of names such as Bruno Mars, Harry Styles, and Sheeran.
After selling out their first-ever headlining tour, the band then released the Invitation EP in September (commemorating their one-year anniversary). That proved an even greater success, topping iTunes’ ‘Overall Albums’ chart in six countries, including the USA, and reaching #3 on iTunes in Australia.
By the end of last year, the five singers had appeared in media across the States, from Time to Vogue to TV’s Good Morning America, also performing at NYC’s Madison Square Garden on the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball tour alongside Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello and more.
Now one of pop’s biggest music exports Why Don’t We will make their Aussie debut shows this August, with two exclusive performances.
Joining Why Don’t We on stage in Australia is charismatic 21-year-old singer/producer EBEN! Over 300,000+ followers on social media know what’s up: the Los Angeles-via-Cincinnati singer’s infectious, hip-hop-flavoured pop is all over current single ‘LAMBO’, his vocals produced and recorded by esteemed producer R8DIO (Solange, Will Smith). Reaching #10 on the Spotify US viral charts, it also landed in their coveted New Music Friday playlist. EBEN (born Eben Franckewitz) first hit the road touring with Why Don’t We in 2017, as the band’s opening DJ and behind-the-scenes production assistant, following his winning pop collection Finally got their attention online. Check the video for ‘LAMBO’ and witness EBEN’s fantastically warped sense of humour: think custom-designed mini-Lamborghinis and little-kid cops, the clip boasting over 325k YouTube views so far.
