GLOBAL COMEDY SENSATION ANNOUNCES DEBUT AUSTRALIAN SHOWS
CANBERRA SHOW – EXTRA TICKETS RELEASED
Visit TOUR DATES & TICKETING for full details.
Following a completely sold out UK tour in 2017, frustrated news reporter Jonathan Pie is making his Australian debut – and he’s angrier than ever! Join Pie at Sydney Comedy Festival, Perth Comedy Festival and in Melbourne for a night of political comedy that soon descends into chaos.
In Jonathan Pie: Back To The Studio, Pie attempts to host a night of serious discussions on current affairs whilst simultaneously attempting to smash the system from within. This is political satire at its finest.
The comedy star will play Perth’s Regal Theatre on Friday 18 May for the Perth Comedy Festival, followed by Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Saturday 19 May for the Sydney Comedy Festival and at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre on Saturday 26 May.
The viral sensation who satirises the world of politics and the media is known for venting his spleen in unguarded ‘off-camera’ rants; his online videos have been viewed by millions worldwide. In 2017, Pie made his live debut in a one-man show that was described as ‘electrifying’ (Chortle), ‘blistering’ (Evening Standard) and ‘desperately misjudged’ (The Times). His UK tour completely sold out, culminating in a sell-out show to over 2,000 people at the London Palladium.
‘Blisteringly brilliant.’ - The Scotsman (UK)
★★★★ ‘It’s a staggering tour-de-force of righteous visceral rage from Tom Walker, the actor behind Pie, relishing the chance to unleash hell; then snapping back to TV professionalism in the crackle of an earpiece.’ - Chortle (UK)
Pie is the brainchild of actor Tom Walker, who first brought the character to life in September 2015. He became a viral hit when he famously ‘lost it’ outside the British Houses of Parliament, and his fan base has continued to gain momentum ever since. Tom’s co-writer is comedian Andrew Doyle, who started writing for Pie in December 2015. Since then they have collaborated on two live shows, countless pieces for television and radio, weekly online videos including a response to the US election result which has had in excess of 130 million views, and a book Jonathan Pie - Off The Record which was released last month.
★★★★ ‘Brilliant, funny, angry, and above all intelligent.’ - Broadway Baby (UK)
‘This is more than just a slash and stab at the banality of pop culture. It is an insight into the mind of a man whose inner animal has just felt the jaws of the trap break his ankle and is howling in pain.’ - ScotsGay Magazine (UK)
Earlier this year, Pie’s debut live show sold out its entire 22-date UK tour with extra shows added to meet demand. Don’t miss your chance to catch Pie’s Australian debut in May 2018 - tickets won’t last long!
