‘It's Jeremih season’ – Pitchfork (1 November 2015)
It’s been five years since Jeremih dropped his second LP All About You (Def Jam) leaving critics and fans alike waiting with bated breath for another album. In what has been a year of teasers for much anticipated third album Late Nights (out now through Def Jam), singles ‘You & I’, ‘Oui’, ‘Impatient’ (Pitchfork’s Best New Track) and ‘Pass Dat’ account for just some of the Late Nights tracks Jeremih has dropped on the public without any notice. Late Nights also features Grammy nominated track ‘Planes’ feat. J. Cole and ‘Don’t Tell ‘Em’ feat YG which recently hit platinum in America and Australia, selling over 3 million copies worldwide and counting.
Jeremih’s freshly released masterwork Late Nights features Future, Big Sean, J. Cole, Ty Dolla $ign, Migos and more and already has critics raving. The 15-track album displays Jeremih’s modern take on R&B, and will continue to establish him as one of the most important figures in the broader contemporary R&B music scene right now.
‘Compact and floating, a music box lullaby for the beginning of a day’ – The Fader
‘It’s as smooth and atmospheric as I’ve been hoping’ - Stereogum
Jeremih’s second Australian platinum single of the year came in the form of a feature on Nelly’s smash hit track ‘The Fix’. Jeremih’s unforgettable 2009 smash ‘Birthday Sex’ undeniably launched his career – a career that would see admirers and collaborators in Drake, 2 Chainz, Whiz Khalifa, French Montana, 50 Cent, Nikki Minaj, Flo Rida, T.I., Future and J. Cole.
‘It’s one of the best R&B songs of the year.’ – Pitchfork on Jeremih’s track ‘Planes’
‘‘Pass Dat’ is a chilled-out yet jittery smoking anthem that strikes me as a subtly hyperactive version of the futuristic twilight sonics that made ‘Planes’ so good’ - Stereogum
While Jeremih’s commercial success is impressive, his collaborations with alternative artists reveal another dimension to his work. In 2014, Jeremih collaborated with electronic producer Shlohmo, releasing No More EP (out through Wedidit). The EP showcases a total dichotomy of Jeremih’s musical stylings; never however straying too far from his R&B roots. Tracks from the EP include ‘Bo Peep (Do U Right)’ and the driving title track ‘No More’. Jeremih has also collaborated on tracks with Chance the Rapper and Cashmere Cat, to name a few.
‘Jeremih’s got a quiet confidence, and he knows how to make his voice glide silkily over whatever track he’s singing on’ – Stereogum
‘No More transcends cool diversion when Jeremih finally flexes amid Shlohmo's fog of art-trap melancholy, especially on ‘Let It Go’, where he bops, ducks, swerves and spectacularly caresses the melody.’ – Rolling Stone’s 20 Best R&B Albums of 2014
‘Gorgeously smoggy, humid, and sort of tragic despite the surface romance, with Jeremih’s weightless falsetto piercing through the groaning bassline’ – Pitchfork
It’s been a year of surprise performances from the elusive R&B megastar, performing brand new, unheard tracks from Late Nights without any notice all over America. Meek Mill even brought Jeremih and Natalie La Rose out on stage to perform their smash hit ‘Somebody’, which they performed live on the Ellen show in April.
Drake hand-picked Jeremih to perform at his carefully curated OVO Fest in Toronto, alongside J. Cole, Big Sean, YG and Drake himself. In June, Jeremih kicked off Pepsi & iHeartRadio’s summer yacht party performing alongside Flo Rida and Prince Royce.
‘Jeremih brought the party’ – Billboard
Finally, it’s time to hear one of the most anticipated R&B releases in recent years performed live, along with a swathe of other modern classics. With music that transcends the worlds of mainstream and underground, there is something for everyone at a Jeremih show. Don’t miss your opportunity to see what all the hype is about.
