FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL MELBOURNE AND SYDNEY HEADLINE SHOWS ANNOUNCED FOR MARCH '15!

“Their reputation for demented live shows precedes them.” – The Guardian

“Like so much provocative performance, resistance is futile ... These two characters have created patently offensive performance art that must feel like robbing a bank.” – Rolling Stone

They’re the act everyone can’t stop talking about and a live show unlike no other: Future Music is thrilled to announce that outrageous South African rave-rap outfit Die Antwoord –  MCs Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek – will bring their flamboyant, out-of-control live show to two special headline dates in Melbourne and Sydney this March. This is one experience you don’t want to miss!

Currently wrapping up a massive sold-out European tour which covered cities from Glasgow to Paris, St Petersburg to Manchester, and with US dates pencilled in for late March following their trek down under, the relentless ‘Ugly Boy’ crew will return to Australia at the end of February, bringing their insane live show to Future Music Festival across the country. Now, fans in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne will get the chance to experience Die Antwoord at their very own headline dates in early March – these shows will sell out quickly, so don’t delay in grabbing tickets!

Released back in June 2014, Die Antwoord’s latest longplayer, Donker Mag (Afrikaans for ‘Dark Force)’, has been their most successful album to date, reaching #11 in the Australian ARIA charts, #1 on the Billboard Dance Charts and #4 on the Billboard Indie Charts in the US. The fearless outfit enlisted some very special stars to feature in their latest ‘what was that!?’ film clip for new single ‘Ugly Boy’ (watch here) – including Marilyn Manson, it-model Cara Delevingne, Hollywood actor Jack Black and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea.

Thanks to cuts like ‘Pitbull Terrier’, ‘Rich Bitch’, ‘Cookie Thumper’ and ‘Happy Go Sucky F**ky’, Die Antwoord quickly cemented their cult status, following the release of 2009 debut $O$, 2012’s Ten$ion and now Donker Mag. The last two LPs are out via the band’s own Zef label: Die Antwoord identify as ‘Zef’ in style and in sub-culture – a notion that means you might be poor, but you’re fancy.

From fashion campaigns with Alexander Wang to appearing in the upcoming film Chappie by director Neill Blomkamp (District 9), Die Antwoord’s visual side is just as crazy as their music. Die Antwoord play themselves – but as gangsters – who kidnap an intelligent robot (voiced by Sharlto Copley) and program it to do their bidding. Shot in Johannesburg, the film will be released soon and will also include several of the band’s tracks. Read more about it here.

Their video for single ‘I Fink U Freeky’ has over 45 million YouTube views and counting, while early videos ‘ZEFSIDE’ and ‘Enter The Ninja’ racked up a combined 35 million views in total, crashing the band's website. In total, Die Antwoord videos have over 130 million views to date.

Live, Die Antwoord are shocking and totally exhilarating. Don’t miss out on one of the most dynamic live bands touring the world today!
