Joining alt-J as very special guest will be Icelandic melodic-folk marvel Ásgeir.

At merely 22 years of age, Ásgeir has become one of Iceland’s biggest break-out stars. His debut release Dyrd í dauðathogn has broken multiple sales records in his homeland – it has become the country’s fastest and highest selling album by a native artist; with one in ten of the Icelandic population owning the album and it has outsold even the combined debuts of countrymates Björk and Sigur Rós.

With the help of indie rock maestro John Grant, Ásgeir translated the album into English and In The Silence (out now through Inertia) was born, garnering equal acclaim. Spawning the hit single ‘King And Cross’, the triple j Feature Album debuted at #18 in the ARIA Album Chart and quickly surged to #8 in its second week.

Returning to Australia this May to play massive headline shows!

with special guests Ásgeir & Mansionair (East Coast only)

Australia just can’t get enough of alt-J, so we’re bringing them back!

Frontier Touring will be bringing the loved UK lads back to play some of their biggest Australian headline shows to date, starting with Brisbane’s Riverstage on Friday 8 May and wrapping it up in Perth at HBF Stadium on Friday 15 May.

This welcome news follows the band’s short trip Down Under earlier this month– including Melbourne & Sydney shows that sold out in seconds - in support of their hugely successful sophomore album This Is All Yours (out now through Liberator Music) – the follow up to 2012’s Mercury Prize winning album An Awesome Wave.

‘alt-J never lose their way, though, and their comeback is one of the best British albums of the year’ – Evening Standard

‘”Please don’t go, I’ll eat you whole, I love you so, I love you so” it’s clear that audience feel exactly the same way. alt-J put on a solid performance, with a killer light show, used to maximum effect with lights synchronised to the beat of each song.’ – The AU Review

‘With an equal balance of material from An Awesome Wave and This Is All Yours…It became evident that alt-J’s sophomore record could be delivered as flawlessly as it was in studio. The band’s knack for creating soothing, goosebump-inflicting harmonies and their aptness for dynamics highlights why they’re one of the fastest-growing bands at the moment – and why they sell out just about every single show.’ – Tone Deaf

There was always going to be huge pressure to create an equally successful follow up to their critically acclaimed debut, but the UK indie outfit – Joe Newman (guitar/vocals), Gus Unger-Hamilton (keyboards) and Thom Green (drums) decided to do what they do best: make music for each other, and leave all thoughts of the outside world and its expectations behind when they walked into the studio.

They did not disappoint. This Is All Yours debuted at #1 in the UK, #2 in Australia, #4 in the USA and within the top 10 for most parts of Europe.

With their first single from the latest album ‘Hunger Of The Pine’ (watch here) closing in on 4.3 million views in 3 months, the band have not lost momentum proving that they are a band of longevity who have spent the time between albums, gelling as a band and honing their craft.

With no headline shows scheduled for their January trip (playing Falls Festival / Southbound & Field Day), make sure you catch the band play the biggest Australian headline shows of their career next May. This tour is sure to sell FAST!
