Arguably one of the most successful heavy metal bands around today, Disturbed have sold over 11 million albums globally and are one of only three bands in music history to have four consecutive releases debut at #1 on the US Billboard Top 200 album chart.
Since the band’s formation fifteen years ago, Disturbed have had three Platinum albums in Australia and a strong fourth contender in their latest offering Asylum which debuted at #2 on the ARIA Album Chart and #1 on New Zealand’s RIANZ Album Chart upon its release in August.
Asylum is the fifth studio album by the Grammy Award nominated band (2009) and the first single ‘Another Way To Die’ has continued to impress listeners since its immediate injection into the top spot on the iTunes Rock Chart once available. Featuring lashing guitars, bone-shattering riffs and hypnotic hooks Asylum is classic Disturbed at their finest:
“The Chicago quartet has a defined sound that's been consistently satisfying for the past decade… There are enough brains and brawn to make this an "Asylum" any head-banger would be crazy to avoid” – Billboard
“Global warming! Nazis! Werewolves! Disturbed pack their fifth disc Asylum with so much scary stuff it should come with a night-light. The Chicago metal warriors give Metallica pummel a modern-rock sheen…”– Entertainment Weekly
“…Where many of their peers settle for a few blocky chords and let the distortion pedal do the rest, Disturbed don't shy away from a few fevered fret-board workouts. As history has proven, the devil — wherever he lives — loves a good guitar solo.” - Rolling Stone
Disturbed, comprised of front man David Draiman, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren and bassist John Moyer, have garnered a devoted following over their extensive, wildly successful career due to their vicious live performances and repertoire of standout compositions.
To add to the mayhem, axe wielding metal band Trivium will join Disturbed at all shows on tour as special guests. Trivium have over 800 live shows to their name to date and are ready to show off their prowess again following their last visit in support of 2008’s epic release Shogun.
“The Florida band were on riotous form throughout the gig, which was punctuated by the co-lead guitarist Corey Beaulieu spinning his long hair around and frontman Matt Heafy continuously exclaiming "oh my God!" at how hectic the crowd were.” - NME
Trivium is a powerhouse of metal and their live performances burst with a raw brutality that will certainly leave audiences quaking in their wake.
Metalcore ensemble As I Lay Dying are also performing on the ‘Music As A Weapon 2011’ tour, armed with tracks from their new album The Powerless Rise that has seen them cement their place as one of the most groundbreaking acts in the metal genre:
“Their combination of Slaughter Of The Soul-era At The Gates-style melodic death metal, breakneck thrash and pounding breakdowns has seen them elevated to the forefront of the metalcore scene…” – OneMetal.com
The album, also their fifth, entered the US Billboard chart in the Top 10 albums but it is on the live stage when they are at their most savage.
Opening the tour at all Australian shows, with the exception of Perth, will be Forgiven Rival. The band is rapidly gaining momentum here and overseas, sharing billings with UnderOath, Parkway Drive, Story Of The Year and more. Their highly commended debut album This Is A War has seen them catch the attention of US label Indianola Records, with whom the band are now signed. New Zealand supports will be announced at a later date.
This killer lineup is sure to have fans eagerly rearing their horns in anticipation and clamouring for a piece of the action.
