With a career spanning more than three decades, Bryan is no stranger to the world’s finest arenas and stadiums. His first ever tour of Australia back in 1984 saw him launch his touring career here at sold out stadium shows in support of The Police. From there his star shot into the stratosphere, selling out arenas with ease for every subsequent tour of our shores.
Fast forward to 2011, where Australia will be treated to their most intimate ever shows with Bryan as he takes to theatres across the country for his critically acclaimed ‘Bare Bones’ tour.
Of the shows, Bryan told The Weekender (USA);
“I’m getting back to the basics of the songs, just me and my voice. That’s how they all started…”
The solo performances, which have taken place intermittently throughout his world tours since 2008, have had audiences in awe with their popularity inspiring his latest album Bare Bones. The disc, recorded in 2010 during his Bare Bones Tour, captures sparsely arranged hits by Adams featuring only his distinctive voice and guitar, accompanied by keyboardist Gary Breit.
Bare Bones features stripped back renditions of his hits including ‘Cuts Like A Knife’, ‘Heaven’, ‘Summer of ‘69’ and many more, lending a newfound appreciation and perspective to what many consider some of the most beloved songs in pop/rock music (out now through Universal).
Fans generally accustomed to seeing Bryan Adams in much larger venues will relish the opportunity to see him in theatres for a series of very special performances.
‘…Adams had the audience on its feet. His rapport with the crowd was easy, relaxed. It felt as if he was jamming for guests in his home.’ Dallas Morning News
‘Whether it was the stunning acoustics of the Weidner or the remarkable strength of Adams’ vocals – or perhaps a perfect storm of both – it was two hours of the most amazing sound and unspoiled vocals in recent memory.’ Greenbay Press Gazette
‘[The format] allowed Adams to not only flaunt his cheeky personality, but to showcase the music in its purest form and recount the stories behind his impressive career catalog of songs that have made him one of the most successful solo artists of the past three decades.’ BostonMusicSpotlight.com
‘People frothed hard, even critics…To hear them describe it, it was more like a cozy singalong in the back of a bar than a concert with a merch table out front.’ NBCNewYork.com
The multi-award winning musician and respected philanthropist is undoubtedly one of the world’s best selling artists, having sold in surplus of 65 million albums across the globe and reaching the top of the charts in over 40 countries.
His outstanding live shows and robust catalogue of hits ensure that any live Bryan Adams concert is a treat and these theatre shows are sure to be an extra special experience. An artist of Bryan’s esteemed calibre is rarely showcased in this intimate format; this is a wonderful opportunity not to be missed.
Given his immense popularity and the intimacy of the venues, tickets will be in high demand. Pre-sale tickets will be available from 12noon AEST, Thursday 23 June via frontiertouring.com before tickets go on sale at 9am local time, Wednesday 29 June.
