Rise Against - Australia and New Zealand 2009
TOUR DATES & TICKETINGarrow
The Frontier Touring Company is pleased to announce the return of Rise Against to Australia & New Zealand in 2009 for their largest headline tour to date. After last thrilling fans on 2007’s Taste of Chaos tour, Rise Against return in support of Appeal to Reason (available now through Universal Music), their phenomenal fifth studio album. Rise Against will perform in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland – their first headline shows since their sold out 2006 tour. Joining the tour on all Australian dates will be Swedish rockers The (International) Noise Conspiracy.
Appeal to Reason sees Rise Against sitting firmly atop of their game. Debuting at #7 on the ARIA album chart (their highest peak to date in Australia), their socially-charged, politically-fierce fusion of hardcore and punk returns to the forefront on this record, as critics hail the offering as the finest of Rise Against’s career.
Rolling Stone announced of the band and Appeal to Reason: “Rise Against may be nervous about leaving the underground behind, but with sharp songs like these, they’re ready for the rest of the world,” while Slant Magazine were similarly pleased: “They’re still making aggressive, well structured pop-minded hardcore.” Absolute Punk perhaps offered the highest praise, declaring: “Appeal to Reason is essentially focused on one big thing: intelligence.”
Rise Against’s reputation in the live arena is one that is well known. Following appearances at some of Australia’s largest festivals, Rise Against trekked the country in 2006 to play a sold out headline tour. They returned in 2007 as part of Taste of Chaos in spectacular fashion. Beat Magazine displayed a newfound respect for Rise Against: “The power and straight-up honesty of their music is gripping,” and Drum Media left the gig enraptured with their showing: “Rise Against didn’t just raise the roof off the Entertainment Centre – they tore it off.”
Adding to the explosive performances at all stops on the Australian tour will be The (International) Noise Conspiracy. Returning for the first time in three years, you can be sure these Swedes will set the stage alight. The (International) Noise Conspiracy will tour of support of their fifth studio album, The Cross Of My Calling (released November through Shock). Produced by multi-Grammy Award winner Rick Rubin (Rage Against The Machine, Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2), The Cross Of My Calling is one of 2008’s most anticipated releases.
Miles Away will open the show in Perth, while A Death In The Family kick off proceedings in Adelaide and Melbourne. Sydney fans are in for a treat as 50 Lions open the show, and Brisbane will see Badday Down take to the stage.
Rise Against return at the height of their career, leaving no doubt that this tour will sell out. Tickets will go on sale Friday 24 October.
Frontier Members pre-sale tickets will be available from Wednesday 22 October. For further details please visit frontiertouring.com. As an added bonus for fans, all patrons purchasing tickets during the pre-sale will go in the draw to win a meet & greet with Rise
