Mika’s sunny disposition is sure to be the perfect anecdote to wash away your winter blues as he bounds through Australia for one show only this November. The Frontier Touring Company is thrilled to confirm Mika’s return to Sydney, in support of his sophomore album The Boy Who Knew Too Much (available now through Universal). Not only will Mika perform this one-off show for his fans, but while in Australia he will also perform at the Australian Idol Grand Final on November 22 – an honour he is excited to take on.
To date, Mika has only performed once in Australia. A glorious affair, Mika introduced the sold out audience to his world, as he brought his imagination to life on stage in an explosion of balloons, glitter and, err, pantomime cows. Those lucky enough to witness Mika’s Australian debut will attest to his buoyant performance, with all leaving the show enraptured and needing more:
“Mika is a glorious bon bon” – The Sydney Morning Herald
“It may have been a typical Sydney winter night outside, but inside The Forum Mika was bringing back the summer sunshine” – The Drum Media
The rise of Mika was somewhat of a whirlwind. His six-million selling debut effort Life in Cartoon Motion polarized many, at the same time announcing to the music world that Mika had well and truly arrived. Singles ‘Grace Kelly’ and ‘Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)’ dominated the airwaves, and Mika racked up a BRIT Award, multiple World Music Awards, an Ivor Novello and a Grammy nod, making the two years since his debut release nothing short of epic.
Mika’s return to Australia will see him showcasing tracks from his highly anticipated album The Boy Who Knew Too Much. A matured Mika returns to the forefront on The Boy Who Knew Too Much. Again collaborating with Greg Wells, lead single ‘We Are Golden’ caused Perez Hilton to proclaim the track: “…epic. Huge. Massive. And, of course, happy!”, as it peaked at #10 on Australia’s ARIA chart. Sure to satisfy new and returning fans, The Boy Who Knew Too Much has already collected a series of rave reviews:
“A glam-pop storm of grand proportions… this is as bold, daring and vibrant an album as we'll hear this year.” – Q Magazine
“The Boy Who Knew Too Much is an eclectic work, lurching between exuberant pop, vaudevillian knees-ups, disco and sombre ballads.” – musicOMH
“…the results are hugely enjoyable” – BBC
As Mika returns, there’s only one thing we can expect from his performance: a sold out show. Ensure tickets are secured quickly to avoid disappointment.
