Following a thrilling Australian debut in early 2008, fans will be delighted by the confirmation that McFly will return to perform in Sydney this February. After recording their latest album, Radio:ACTIVE, in Australia during the last tour, McFly will continue their love affair with Australia as they perform one Sydney show on Friday 27 February at the Metro Theatre.
McFly’s maiden Australian voyage was executed spectacularly, as tickets to all shows were snapped up within hours leaving fans wanting more. Finally more have arrived as McFly return this February.
McFly first found fame as teenagers in 2004, as the quartet’s debut album achieved double-platinum status in their homeland - beating The Beatles to the title of youngest British band ever to debut at #1. Like all great guitar groups, McFly make rock music pinned on pop melodies.
Five years after they formed, at an average age of only 22, McFly took the bold step of leaving the major label they used to call home, setting up their own self-financed indie label, Super Records, and releasing their fifth studio album Radio:ACTIVE, independently.
“Setting up our own label has helped us feel like we’re making a fresh start,” says singer/guitarist Tom Fletcher. "We’re proud of every album we’ve made, but for Radio:ACTIVE, we wanted more creative control. We love our new songs and we were determined to record them with no compromise at all."
McFly mix their love of vintage rock with a British twist on the modern punk-pop sound they share with American acts such as Green Day, Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy. Like the songs on the album, the band is bursting with energy.
McFly are now bringing the new album to their armies of fans around the world, and will hit Sydney for one show only.
