The Futureheads - Australia 2008
TOUR DATES & TICKETINGarrow
The Futureheads’ electrifying This Is Not the World (out now through Liberator) has catapulted these English rockers to the top of their game, and it’s with great pleasure The Frontier Touring Company confirms they will be returning to Australia this October. The gentlemen of The Futureheads will play in Australia for the first time in over three years, performing in Fremantle, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
With a fine touring history (they’ve supported the likes of the Pixies, Foo Fighters and Snow Patrol), The Futureheads have been earmarked as one of the UK’s finest bands. Killer harmonies and a rambunctious live show have encapsulated the attention of music lovers across the globe. Their single ‘The Beginning of The Twist’ has enjoyed considerable success, with Inpress declaring it to be “a f*** sight better than much of the mush that passes for British indie rock these days.”
The album courted similar accolades. The Age announced that “the Futureheads won’t be dragged into obscurity” while The West Australian praised the offering: “Each musical phrase not only inverts expectation but does so in a way that enlivens the journey of the song.”
It’s news.com.au that set the tone for the tour, however, describing This Is Not The World as “a solid album full of jerky, post-punk anthems that will sound even better live”.
Support for this tour will come from Melbourne ruffians Dash & Will. During their short time together they’ve already been invited to tour alongside the likes of The Kooks, Ben Lee and Matt Costa, and in December will take to the Homebake stage. Debut single ‘Pick You Up’ is three minutes of spunky, guitar driven pop that is just a taste of what’s to come. You’ll regret not arriving early for this show.
It’s been too many years between drinks for The Futureheads and Australia. You can be sure that the fans will be out in force. Do not to miss out as tickets go on sale this Friday 15 August.
Frontier Members pre-sale tickets will be available from Tuesday 12 August. Please visit our Members Area for further details.
