In February this year Snow Patrol were THE hottest ticket in town. Riding high on the success of their hit single Chasing Cars, Snow Patrol’s sold out Sydney, Melbourne and Perth concerts had fans clamouring for tickets. So it’s with no small amount of excitement that The Frontier Touring Company announce the return of Grammy Award-nominated rockers Snow Patrol for their biggest ever Australian tour.

Snow Patrol’s return in September this year will see the band perform to their biggest Australian crowds yet as they take to arena stages in Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

To coincide with the tour announcement, Gary from Snow Patrol said they were offering up a special thanks to their Aussie fans:

“When you buy a ticket to our gig you get a copy of our 3rd album 'Final Straw’. Buy 4 tickets & you get 4 albums to listen to, hang from your Xmas tree or use as frisbees - but we'd prefer you listened and sang along at the shows!

Australia is one of our favourite places & we're looking forward to the September shows.”

CDs will be mailed to the address supplied for each ticket transaction.

2006 saw Snow Patrol cement themselves as one of the world’s finest bands, racking up accolade after accolade, and selling out show after show across the globe. Although already finding success in earlier years, it was the release of Eyes Open (Universal Music) in 2006 that helped propel Snow Patrol to a whole new level.

Eyes Open became the highest selling album in the UK in 2006, with sales in excess of 1.5 million. After ‘Chasing Cars’ featured in the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, Eyes Open maintained a place in the top quarter of the Billboard 200 list for over fifteen weeks. ‘Chasing Cars’ drew them a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rock Song, and they were joined in their category by greats including Bob Dylan and Neil Young.

Further testament to their worldwide success is their contribution to the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack. ‘Signal Fire’ was chosen as the lead single off the album ahead of those by Wolfmother, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Killers.

Australia has also fallen under the Snow Patrol spell. After heading to Australia as one of the headliners on 2006’s Splendour In The Grass tour, Eyes Open took the number one spot on the ARIA album chart eight months after its release, holding steady at the top for five weeks. The album is now impressively certified 4 times Platinum in Australia.

Their February 07 tour drew nothing but rave reviews. Following their Perth show, The Australian declared: “It didn’t look like stagecraft – they don’t appear to bother creating schtick – just a bunch of friends lost in a moment. They weren’t alone.”

Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion show drew equal admiration, with fasterlouder.com.au writing: “Closing the show with three encores, Snow Patrol left the crowd in articulate awe and admiration, with fans still cheering and howling as Snow Patrol exited the stage. It really was a show to savour.”

Support for the tour will be American indie rockers Silversun Pickups and Irish singer/songwriter Iain Archer.

Silversun Pickups have quickly established themselves as an indie favourite the world over, already scoring support slots with Foo Fighters, Wolfmother, OK Go and Snow Patrol across the US. In the lead up to their recent appearance at the Coachella Music Festival, SPIN named them as one of the bands to check out, declaring that Silversun Pickups “should be the band that California receives most warmly.” Their debut album Carnavas (released July 14 through Warner Music), has also been received with open arms, drawing many comparisons to the Smashing Pumpkins, with Rolling Stone announcing: “’Lazy Eye,’ in particular, could be an outtake from Siamese Dream but the L.A. kids seem to be having fun in a way that Billy Corgan and company rarely could.”

Iain Archer is a name you’ve heard before. He was once a member of Snow Patrol (he is an Ivor Novello award-winning songwriter for co-writing the smash hit ‘Run’ during his time with the band), but it’s Archer’s solo work that has allowed him to shine. His latest album, Magnetic North (Play It Again Sam/Liberator Music), was released to a rapturous response. Gigwise awarded it 4/5 stars, proclaiming: “Reminiscent of the soundtrack to Zach Braffs ‘Garden State’ Archer, from Dundee, has produced the best American album of the year, quite an achievement we think.” Often known to join Snow Patrol onstage, you never know what surprises may be in store. Keep an ear out for upcoming single Minus Ten…it’s a keeper.

Selling out shows has become an everyday occurrence for Snow Patrol, particularly in Australia where they have sold out every single tour to date. Do not miss your chance to be transcended by Snow Patrol this September as they play their most spectacular shows to date.
