GREEN DAY PRESENTS
AMERICAN IDIOT: THE TOUR
The Frontier Touring Company are pleased to finally confirm the much anticipated Australian leg of Green Day's American Idiot world tour.
Currently on tour in the United States, Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt's American Idiot tour is earning rave reviews. As the Star Tribune recently noted, "the politically charged manifesto [American Idiot] is one of the most powerful and best albums of 2004, and Green Day put on one of the most powerful and best concerts of the year."
The tour promises concerts showcasing material from American Idiot as well as the much loved favourites from Green Day's enormous back catalogue of hits. It is a set that will delight both long term and more recent fans.
Musically it is agreed that Green Day are at the top of their game, with PopMatters writing ,"they are without a doubt the most successful punk group of all time... they are also one of the very best rock bands currently working. American Idiot is a work of staggering ambition, made all the more impressive by the fact that they make it all look so damn effortless."
Their first single off their #1 album American Idiot charted at #7 in Australia with massive radio airplay. It is expected that their next single Boulevard of Broken Dreams (in store December 10) will debut even higher, with the single the number three most played on Australian radio last week.
Also touring with Green Day will be chart sensations Simple Plan. Their latest single Welcome To My Life from their album Still Not Gettin' Any (Warner) debuted into the top 10 on the ARIA charts, while the album debuted into the top 20.
Without doubt, Pierre Bouvier (vocals), Chuck Comeau (drums), David Desrosiers (bass, backing vocals), Sebastien Lefebvre (guitar, backing vocals) and Jeff Stinco (lead guitar) have taken Australia and the world by storm, and their inclusion on the Green Day tour notches up the excitement an extra level.
