There must be something about the cold climes of Scotland. Maybe there's something in that icy cold

water. In the past year Australian audiences have been treated to the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Snow

Patrol and Belle & Sebastian and now it's time for fellow Scots, Dogs Die In Hot Cars, to add Australia to their travel plans for May 2005.

Dogs Die In Hot Cars are Craig Macintosh (lead vocals/guitar), Gary Smith (guitars/backing vocals), Lee Worrall (bass), Ruth Quigley (keys/backing vocals) and Laurence Davey (drums). The band, originally from St. Andrew's, Fife, now live in Glasgow.

Their debut album Please Describe Yourself (out now through V2/FMR) was described by Drowned In Sound as "the best indie record of the year bar none, for no other band has successfully mixed playful and serious, novel and attention grabbing and hip and super uncool as much as this has." And Rolling Stone more succinctly wrote "Dogs Dies' debut album... justifies the buzz."

And buzz there is. Dogs Die In Hot Cars stormed onto Australian airwaves with their first single

'Godhopping' while the incredibly catchy second single 'I Love You 'Cause I Have To' went to the top of the national airplay charts and was #1 on the JJJ Net 50. Their third single 'Lounger' also proved popular with radio, receiving airplay across JJJ and the Nova network.

Last year the band played to packed crowds at Glastonbury, T-In-The-Park and the Reading and Leeds festivals and toured with Embrace & The Zutons. They also completed tours of Australia,

US and Japan.

And then there's the unusual moniker. Invariably most stories about the band touch on the topic... but don't expect the band to explain it to you fully. Like their music, they're leaving everything open to interpretation. Don't miss out.
