It brings The Frontier Touring Company great pleasure to announce that Ben Folds will return to Australia to perform with his band in April this year.
Ben Folds rose to popularity in the mid 1990s as the piano-playing frontman behind the exciting indie outfit, Ben Folds Five. The band developed a strong following down under, releasing four albums, one of which, Whatever and Ever Amen (Epic) drummed up platinum sales. The album featured the cult single Brick, which stormed up the ARIA Top 20 Chart, winning Ben Folds Five a place in the Australian public's heart.
Since moving on from Ben Folds Five, Ben has continued to entertain and please music fans the world over. In 2001, he released his first solo album, Rockin' The Suburbs (Epic). Showcasing the hit single of the same name, the album confirmed Ben's standing as one of indie rock's leading men and successfully helped him to launch his solo career.
Over the past few years, despite shying away from the public eye, Ben has been busy working on various new projects. Since Rockin' The Suburbs, he has created three solo EPs – Speed Graphic, Sunny 16 and Super D, and in 2003, he united with two of independent music’s other famous "Bens" – Ben Lee and Ben Kweller – to produce a four-track, highly acclaimed EP, The Bens. More recently, he worked with William Shatner, producing and co-writing Shatner’s comeback record, Has Been, to critical acclaim
Now, with his upcoming Australian tour and a new full length album, Songs for Silverman (Sony/BMG) due for national release on April 11, Ben returns to his rightful place in the spotlight. Landed, the first single from the forthcoming album has already secured a strong following down under, receiving high rotation on national radio broadcaster Triple J.
Fans of Ben Folds can expect to see Ben performing both old favourites and soon to be new ones throughout his tour.
