Bold, unpredictable, with a voice of unabashed freedom, Pink is set to get her party started on our shores in December.
One of the headline artists on the Rumba Festival this year, The Frontier Touring Co are excited to announce that fans in Wollongong can experience the energy of this hot female rock act for themselves with local spin off performance.
With a grand, hopeful vision of music that embraces instead of segregates, Pink (aka Alicia Moore) has always prided herself in rising to the challenge of not doing what she is supposed to, or what has been expected of her.
Earning her nickname, first for her complexion as a child, then for the colour of her face when embarrassed and finally after the outgoing Mr Pink in Quentin Taratino's Reservoir Dogs, Pink astonished her legions of dedicated fans and critics with the release of M!ssundaztood in 2001. They had applauded her boldness but expected the same R&B pop they heard on her debut album released in 2000 "Can't Take Me Home".
"Can't Take Me Home" was a double platinum smash within the US and gained platinum status in Australia. On M!ssundaztood, which is verging on reaching double platinum in Australia, Pink unveils a stunning new voice on the music scene, a phenomenal singer-songwriter voice. Collaborating with her all time mentor Linda Perry, groundbreaker of 4 Non Blondes, Pink has also enlisted other co-writer/producers such as Dallas Austin (TLC, Madonna). The first single "Get the Party Started" which debut at number one on Australian charts and shot to platinum, is just the bridge to Pink's new world. The album oozes with raw emotion, from the sugarless romance of "Just Like A Pill", the heartwrenching "Dear Diary" through to the rock anthem "Don't Let Me Get Me".
An outcast whilst growing up, Pink struggled with the conformity of school, continually fought the pain of her parents divorce and absorbed stories of Vietnam from her father. The result? She hopes that her voice gives voice to a new generation, "I want to open up minds, break stereotypes... in music, sex, everything. The world is ready to grow up."
Celebrating life and freedom, Pink is going to make damn sure that this will be one amazing tour. "I have a vision and I know what I want. I now have a band. I can't wait to play my new music."
Pink will feature special guests the Sugababes who, with two UK No. 1 singles, the Sugababes are about to release their next single "Round Round" from their huge album "Angels With Dirty Faces". Local Aussie act Frantic are set to support the performance.
